Currently in Los Angeles — August 30, 2024: Warming up over the weekend

The weather, currently.

Warming up over the weekend

This is bittersweet. We’re putting a pause on Currently Los Angeles, so my daily weather updates won’t be coming to your inbox after today.

Heading into the long Labor Day weekend, and the unofficial end of summer, things will start out with continued cool weather (and early morning marine layer), before a warm up. By Monday, LA metro will be flirting with the 90 degree mark, with valleys easily in the 90s.

The month of September should start out warm with perhaps a pretty sustained heatwave through the first half of the month. Let’s see if DTLA hits the century mark, a big departure from the very troughy and cool September we had last year which had my visiting New York friends wondering what happened to sunny Southern California. Well, she’s back.

That’s all for now. Until next time.

Programming note:

Today’s issue will be the last for Currently Los Angeles until we can secure a more stable source of funding. Thank you so much to each of our readers and members for the opportunity to deliver local weather and climate news to you daily for the past 3 ½ years.

May you have good weather,

Eric Holthaus,
